Just two weeks before its release, Focus Features is now marketing Paul Greengrass' film — set during the 1381 English Peasants' Revolt — with the tagline: “The Rise of Robin Hood.”
The idea of Robin Hood operating during the reign of Richard I is a later retcon. In the original ballads, when a king is mentioned they’re referred to as “Edward”, although it’s never specified which King Edward is being referenced.

Oldest Robin ballad is around 1377 though, still before the revolt.
