The “Jar Head Salsa” account provided an almost real-time narration of Smith’s train journey from Michigan to Washington D.C. for the protests. While multiple people are involved with the salsa business, several posts about Jan. 6 on the X account indicate Smith was the author including one made on last Aug. 27 that congratulated Brandon Straka, a pro-Trump influencer who was convicted for his role in the protest before being pardoned by the president, for setting up a “headquarters.”
Uh huh… just a protest. Right.
I watched the protest from some video feeds being streamed by people there, I saw the preceding moments before law enforcement opened fire… the door that had just had its glass broken was literally one of the last doors between them and lawmakers.
People in the crowd had wrist restraints for a large amount of people and many loudly proclaimed specific intent towards specific lawmakers like AOC.
The fact that only one person was shot that day at the most interior point that protestors were trying to break through at was in some ways a miracle, we were very close to a drastically different timeline there where angry rightwing protestors successfully stormed the chambers. A mere handful of locked doors and armed law enforcement away from it.
