Likely price - gouging related. “Essential” workers got words, no raises or hazard pay, prices soared exponentially and never really came back down. EPI annual profit reports continue to show it was not “supply chain problems.” Then the pandemic was declared over, and the dismantling of WFH began.
The strategic oil reserve is at 286m barrels and dropping. Engineers have warned that if it remains below 300m the entire salt mines they are stored in could collapse and the level is only dropping.
If those caverns collapse so does the US and the entire western hegemonic empire with it.
We really really need to start becoming preppers. At the very least just teaching people what to put together for a go bag, while also putting all our energy into local organizing and community building.
I love my ML comrades but they aren’t building anything resembling a vanguard party in the US fast enough so it’s going to come down to other means and anarchists in the west have ironically been kinda proven effective in that matter if not theoretically correct. Western MLs are about to get smacked in the face hard by rapidly evolving material conditions that will only be mitigated through rapidly organized decentralized contingencies.
Yeah, I have a pet theory on anarchism vs ML in the west. It comes down to we’ve never had good leadership, so it’s hard for us to imagine a world where our leaders do good things, so anarchism is an easier path to map. In the global south it’s the opposite.
But I question if such an arrangement isn’t all that bad of an idea in the respective societies, counter the highly centralized power with decentralization to bring down the beast. While the global south employes centralized power structures to topple the relatively weaker governments that don’t have power without the western world pulling the strings.
I kind of see it as nature finding a balance.
