context: Malcolm X’s pilgrimage to the birthplace of Islam changed his life, as the meme says. The right panel shows the irony of being detained at an airport instead.

So I read Malcom X’s wiki entry and learned lots of new stuff about him (didn’t know he was a devoted Muslim and supporter of empowerment through segregation/ remigration of black people to africa) Please correct me if I am wrong about anything I am saying here.
So to add a little more context to the meme: X travelled to Jeddha in 1964 to begin his pilgrimage to Mecca.
However, airport authorities questioned his muslim faith as he was a US citizen and could not speak arabi leading to him being detained. So X reached out to an author whos book had been given to him with his visa, who vouched for X and was able to get him out of detention.
Also X was declared a guest of honor by Prince Faisal soon after, who I believed is the chap in the meme next to Malcom.
Malcom, who believed that black and white people are best segregated, so that black people would be free from white oppression was surprised to see that the muslim community was quite diverse, from white, brown to black people all united by the faith. He therefore came to believe that the muslim faith could be a tool to create a peacful coexistence of people of all ethnicities.
Again, feel free to correct me if I am wrong about anything. Can recommend reading his wiki. Malcom X turned out to be so different from what I remebered from school.
