Rapper Macklemore is a vocal supporter of Palestine and Gaza residents. During a recent concert at MetLife Stadium, he yelled “Free Palestine!” onstage, projected images of devastation in the area, and performed protest song “Hind’s Hall.”
Now, it seems that American venues are not willing to play ball with the Seattle artist, and he has been dropped from Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour.
“After discussions with stakeholders, Macklemore will not be performing on the remaining support dates,” according to Messina Touring Group, the promoter of Loop Tour. This news follows backlash from organizations like StopAntisemitism and others, such as pop star Pink.

If you’re right then they factored in the cost of the backlash that would head toward Sheeran when more than half of all US voters sympathize with Palestine more than Israel, and 70% of Dems sympathize more with Palestine than israel. Once you start looking at younger people its even worse-- Israel has lost that entire next generation. Ed Sheerans listening demographic is primarily 13-27 year olds. So I hope the cost was worth it to them. They’ll be getting less profits now.

Pretending Ed Shereen and Robert Kraft are equally bad in this situation is disingenuous. One made the decision to blacklist anti-genocide artists and the other didn’t fight him.
Talking about Ed Shereen, in the context of this story, is providing a smoke screen for Kraft and the other owners who are using their wealth to try to control messaging on Israel.
