    I mean… if the FSB says they are going to kill your mother I’d take the threat seriously. They’ve demonstrated that they can more or less kill with impunity on British soil… presumably in Russia they can do much worse.

    And Western (neo)-Liberal nations do the same thing to their activists.

    …in both cases it’s a type of fascism. The suppression and repression of non-violent political popularism is ALWAYS a form of fascism. Even when that suppression is done by ostensibly liberal democratic societies.

      While I broadly agree in sentiment, is it always a form of fascism specifically, or just authoritarianism…? I feel like we’re starting to hit a point of just conflating the two, and I don’t really think they mean entirely the same thing…
