I suspect that earlier in his governorship he was willing to go along more with the Democratic legislature because he knew it would not risk his re-election. Now that he has his eyes on the presidency he is going straight down the middle, which these days is basically the Right.

The Democratic party has put us in this position and for that, they have my deepest disappointment.

Once again, the only thing leftist can be reprimanded for is being right too early.

Basically he said that he thinks this should be left up to the governor, whoever that is, and no matter how righteous and well intentioned, the issue shouldn’t be decided for all time this way, eroding future governors’ authority.

What a spineless position. Why pass any laws at all? Why not leave everything up to the whims of whoever is in office?

Doesn’t the legislature decide issues all the time and enshrine those decisions for the future in law? Isn’t that what they do? Why the fuck should extradition for providing healthcare be any different? Isn’t he “eroding the authority” of the legislature in saying no, we should leave this as governor’s discretion, just in principle?

I’m not just hating Newsom reflexively here. I seriously don’t understand his argument, despite trying.

This guys slept with his best friend’s wife and then blamed it on alcoholism. What kind of piece of shit do you have to be to do something like that? It’s so treacherous and lacking in empathy to sleep with a best friend’s wife that there has to be a fundamental absence of conscience; and the fact that it wasn’t illegal and he could blame it on alcoholism meant he was able to sweep his vileness under the rug for voter’s to overlook.

This vote doesn’t surprise me. This vote should surprise no one. Gavin Newsom has always been terrible.

This is also an example of how money and power have infected progressivism. If the public really had a real selection of candidates instead of curated talking heads, this situation wouldn’t be occurring. The power of wealthy donors or publicity from privately owned rich media conglomerates ensures that usually only the pre-selected are in the public sphere.

Who needs the GOP when the dems are like this?

I sincerely hope that a progressive governor replaces this shitbird. Newsom might be better than any given member of the GOP, but that bar is in hell.

If he want to make it through a primary, he will have to cheat. I hate Newsom
