You can download both and see which one tickles your fancy more, but I prefer Mineclonia. There WILL be differences as Luanti is a fundamentally different engine from Minecraft, but generally you’ll feel right at home.
Currently the biggest differences for me are that lapis lazuli is stupidly rare compared to Minecraft, and there are no unique stepping sounds for other mobs so it’s like Alpha and Beta where a creeper’s footsteps can blend in with chickens, cows, and pigs. Dual wielding is also currently primitive, and Nether portals tend to put you in the middle of lava seas. Caves are stupidly dark but that might get improved on.
But I did manage to build myself a nice big house with an inner courtyard, and get myself to the End and come back with an elytra and shulker boxes.
I just gave it a go a week or two ago and it’s been so fun. Caves are basically infinitely deep, and the cave gen produces a lot of cool things. We just found a MASSIVE opening in a cave, we’ve been exploring a single room for hours and still haven’t found it all, we’re probably going to build a base in the cave cuz it takes 15 minutes just to get down there. Not everything feels finished, like the mobs are way less interesting, and the surface is generally less dense, but some things like mining are just so much cooler.
Hmm, good question as I haven’t really engaged with Luanti recently! Been playing Vintage Story if a block game is on the menu…However, sometimes just flipping a coin and going with the first one is a good idea. Also, there is nothing stopping you from trying both out and finding the one that works better!
Publish it on Steam, add controller support and splitscreen and no MS account needed. That’s all I want. I want my kids to be able to play it on the living room TV without anyone having to do anything in order for it to happen.
Steam and independent accounts are never gonna happen unless they sell the ip unfortunately. Unless you download the cracked prism launcher but absolutely do not download that from the github repo, its illegal!
They could make whole new dimensions that are essentially a new game plus. With new, harder mobs, bosses with actual mechanics, new gear, resources, etc.
The creative sandbox aspect of the game is fantastic, I love creating things and seeing what other people make, but the survival aspect has had no real expansion. Their horrible balancing and failed combat update leaves no wiggle room for new weapons. The wooden axe does the same damage as a diamond sword.
Hi. I make fun of this too but it’s worth pointing out that Mojang does 100x the work to the game’s internals for speed, stability, modability, etc. It’s effectively a completely different codebase from version 1.0
Well, they decided to make a new version and bottled it, so now have a lot of tech debt to catch up on. The Java version has had work for sure, but unpaid modders still do more for optimisation.
I’m not sure on who the developers are anymore, but I sure hope the people working on the backend are not the ones relied on for new content either.
This isnt tiny little Mojang and Minecraft anymore, this is the best selling game of all time.
Maybe they are just working on it while doing the other stuff; remember they have to do something very big, the community has very high expectations unlike when they made the nether update
If only they would revamp The End, but The Sift is nice too…
At this point, I’m sincerely considering moving everthing to Luanti. But i’m uncertain between VoxeLibre or Mineclonia.

Why do anything cool when they can spend 6 months adding 1 feature from a mod?
At this point is there anything for them to add that isn’t part of a mod?

They could add another fictional animal in a vote (while a mod adds all the options before the vote finishes instead of just the winner).
The game has limitless untapped potential.

Sounds like you just want to play modded
I have a lot. I want to see an official twist on it. Something that everyone can discuss and doesnt become irrelevant.

They made those
annoyingamazing light flares. What more do you want?? (/s)Maybe they are just working on it while doing the other stuff; remember they have to do something very big, the community has very high expectations unlike when they made the nether update
Also, their are working on the codebase right now
Isnt the sift the thing they were working on in the background?
I mean, they could’ve been working on both
