This is the country were police arrest old ladies holding pieces of paper saying " I support Palestine Action against the Genocide in Gaza" as according to the Law “Terrorist Supporters”, so whatever the fuck the authorities there call “Terrorism” bares little relation to the common understanding of the word and the UK “counterterrorism” police being involved in this, unlike in most of Europe doesn’t actually mean anything since they’re basically the government’s “heavy hammer” that lets them use anti-terrorism legislation (which in Britain is seriously autoritarian) against things like political dissent or merely to make something sound in the Press a lot worse than it is.
My gut feeling is that this was what a normal Democratic country would be seen as an overreaction (only this is in a country which is by now a lot closer to Russia in terms of autoritarianism than to the rest of Europe) to either somebody mistakenly being near the place or some attempt by an anti-Genocide action group at doing something like what got “Palestine Action” classified by the local government as a “Terrorist Group” - throwng paint on some parked military planes which were used by the UK to do surveillance in Gaza for Israel.
In summary, treat whatever the UK Authorities say with about the same level of trust as if it was the Russian Authorities saying it, especially if the word “terrorism” is bandied around.
