That’s not even satire. That’s just reporting the facts. You can’t actually make this more ridiculous and as an Albertan, I am so disappointed in my neighbours. Like, ferchristsake, your mom literally has a slavic accent and you’re going to vote against immigrants? You’re not even “from here” you were born in Guelph. Honestly. It’s small comfort that you’re smart enough to figure out being landlocked and spitting in the face of everyone around you is a bad idea, but apparently not smart enough to realize the brown people you’re scared of probably were here before you were.

This actually happened to me at work once. An older lady comes in and she has a rather thick eastern european accent. I ask her where she’s from and she very nonchalantly says “Alberta”, but she recently moved to Ontario. Right. That’s that Albertan accent coming through!
The reason I asked was because part of setting up her account is getting her place of birth. To which she tells me “When I was born it was Yugoslavia, but it’s Croatia now. Put what you want.” She was one of the most difficult clients I’ve ever had to deal with.
