I think you kinda choose to be a pedophile? or at least society, especially the abrahamic religions and roman descended cultures, choose to make it very easy for people to become pedophiles, do everything they can to facilitate the shit out of it

Like, social mores and value are a big deal in every part of making who a person is, and youth fetishization is pretty prevalent, especially anywhere near the abrahamic religions (less in judiasm and I think ba’hai?) and it would be absurd to say sexuality isn’t largely socially influenced-look at literally any kink you have and tell me you don’t know where it came from, for example. The idea of a category as wide and complicated as ‘man’ or ‘woman’ being hard wired into every portion of the human brain is absolutely nuts!

The fact we give pedophiles a half pass because dipshit libgay assimilationists are like ‘I was born this way, it wouldn’t be okay if I chose it but I didn’t so its fine and you just gotta deal’ and we don’t want to devalue their arguments? Fuck em.

One could argue that we create pedophiles by fetishizing youth and human disposability the way we do, so that older people are seen as unsuitable or used up. That all our discourse is centered around those who are easy to influence, since at least the advent of advertising. That this centers, in many minds, the discoursebof desire and desirability on the young, makes it synonymous with youth. One could also argue that we’re reading the massive incidence of anti-gay legislators getting their dicks sucked by other men precisely backwards-as massive performative disapproval and fighting proxies for themselves to cover shame, rather than something a little more Nietzschean about the discursive nature of conflict (he who fights monsters should take care he doesnt idly sketch them in the margins of every strategy memo with ripped abs and massive cocks? When you stare long into the abyss, your’e eventually gonna wonder what it feels like to stick your dick in there?)

Or we look at the existing studies that have researched the very question if pedophilia is subject to change or therapy. Which sadly, like homosexualtiy(and yes the similarities end right there), it is not.

We do not need to give people a pass for anything and personally i do not know of a single person that is accepting of pedophilia. But how about we start judging people by their actions, instead of policing their thoughts? Person is nonoffending? Why care about any label that they chose or were given. Person is raping kids? Lock them up. Is it any better if the rapist is not pedophile?

I didn’t say change or therapy. Also, the underlying causes I cited as probably aren’t things anyone with public funding can address.

I didn’t say a pass. I said a half pass. We go easy on them, we don’t try to fully understand them.

But how can we help treat them and give them the resources they need to function within society if we don’t try to understand it

Jack yourself off with the monkey paw!

That’s not just a derogatory response, that’s the liberal response and answer to your question-say youre doing the thing, do something that’s superficially similar, but actually think of the worst most awful thing you could do, and do that. Best case? Warm fuzzy carceral solution. Worst case? They’re all youth pastors now, and nobody reports sexual abuse from them ever again! Problem solved!
