Having the ability to see all communities on an instance (one you’re logged into or others which are federated) would be really helpful to find new communities were interested in.

    Isn’t that what you see when you click Communities and then Local?

      That’s just a homepage with only posts from your native instance. But say I learn about a new instance and want to check out which communities they have. Currently there is no way for me to do that from inside wefwef.

    Currently, only if someone on your instance is subscribed to a remote instance will users see that community in their local instance’s community list. One enhancement to Lemmy would be to have instances that host communities “push” their local community list to federated instances once per day. Local users would be able to discover all Lemmy communities in the fediverse.

    Good point. I was confused and thought it was possible to see other instances communities directly in Lemmy but it is not.

    I do think we should have a feature to see all communities in the local instance in wefwef though.
