    Haven’t they always been strictly non-political? Or were flags other than those of competing nations allowed before this year?

      It’s literally a nationalist song contest, and they sure as fuck don’t have a problem with Israeli flags. Or Israel competing. This is some actual bullshit concern trolling.

      As for specific reactions to current events, Russia was banned from Eurovision for reasons that should be obvious… “Non political” my keister.

        What I don’t get is people are Russia bad but Israel is doing same shit or worse and it’s like well they deserve it.

        Didn’t Russia withdraw on their own years before recent escalations happened, because the show was too gay for them?

        IIRC it was the year when Conchita Wurst won.

      Non-political is an inherently meaningless phrase used to bludgeon the powerless. The rights and freedoms of the lgbtq community are only political if you’re not a member of that community. If you are a member of that community, it’s a very real and existential issue that must be addressed.
