Never was able to make it past the deathclaws. But I had to cheese the cazadors for a melee build. For some reason I remember getting a power fist from some ruined house, but all I can find at the moment is that Chance’s Knife is up in that area.
One of the tricks to cheeze enemies tougher than you is that even a small amount of leg damage can cripple them. Preparing a place to lure them in or\and dropping mines and grenades as you go can luck you into slowing them down to a crawl. I’d take any biped over these venomous flying shits.
I can’t remember the exact route, but I usually pass quarry junction and then run along the left side of Black Mountain, you can usually sneak past most Deathclaws this way (and lose the ones you can’t sneak past on the slopes of the mountain).
After that disguise yourself as NCR, take the monorail and you can get to Benny in like 10 minutes.

I think you can cheese the deathclaws by hiding in a building or something. The main issue is having enough ammunition.
