Based on what I know, 99% of humans live in hive worlds and will never see conflict. The stories, the wars? Galaxy wide - like just looking at a map of the galaxy and how long space travel takes? Not just the warp traitors, but orks and Nids with their “proper” propulsion? The worst most humans will face is Darktide-style incursions of rot under a hive, and even then the upper levels may not even be aware of such.

The far and wide galaxy of Warhammer may certainly not be good, as theres settings like Star Trek where no matter where you go youre rocking a good time - but idk the worst most humans have to deal with is god-aweful mismanagement and ineffective government of the hive, maybe a Mechanicus comes to town and calls people “pre-servitors” for awhile and then fucks off back to Mars. The cities are beautiful when they’re not on fire. Chances of being born to a mundane non-hellscape and living and dying with nothing happening are pretty good tbh

Sure Liaoning (a refitted soviet design) and Shandong (a newer cv based on the soviet design plan) together is a sight to see and power projection, but even more so it means they’re not elsewhere. Save state games do, but idk the word - “continuation based checkpoint” games often do not load the last “save”. Gta online used to be like this and you actually used up healing snacks and armor midmission, making heists a slog if you died and used them all up. Now it loads the state and you get those back when you die.

A trend that really took off is allowing checkpoint based-save games to remember I used consumables when reloading a save after you fail a mission. This conditions you to worry you might hit a hard spot and use all your consumables, and still lose, and be out all the money/time it took to get them.

Games used to just reload a savestate so if you died and had to load a checkpoint you “didnt use” those consumables. Bethesda games are great about this Used a lockpick magazine and there was a trap on the other side? Dont worry fam use that magazine again and be ready for round 2!

Depending on fuel availability and other obligations, it opens them up to some severe implications to enterprising forces. Logistically they must either weaken other theaters (like say Syria or Georgia or Kyrgyzstan) by flying them to replace the lost craft, or simply accept a weakened position with air power over Ukraine. (Assuming all are in service and none are reserve)

Even more so, Russian command will have to gauge if Ukraine is able to replicate this, and how often. If another strike like this is deemed not only possible but imminent, they will have to start using an airbase even further from the front, driving fuel costs up to deliver the same payloads. Additionally, increased flight time means less chance the target will be caught unprepared for your arrival and allows more time to relocate mobile AA to respond to your (now much longer and obvious) flight path.

Edit: The TU-95 (the nuclear capable bigboi) has a fuel range of 15k km (9300mi) so these were already well within range, just flight times will be longer.
