Dude, I’m also an atheist and very vocal about it. Don’t be that kind of atheist. Pick your battles and realize that trying to eliminate religious words from non-religious applications is not one you’re going to win. This is really no different from atheists who refuse to do things like exclaim, “Jesus Christ!” when they stub their toe or are super frustrated or whatever as if the words have some sort of power.
As someone who thinks there is no such thing as the supernatural, maybe don’t give words so much power?
5 minutes of time
Dear god, your hands must be raw! 20 seconds is enough.
and pray that it contains a low level of PFAS.
I think you’re fucked on that last part, because the levels just keep increasing, but the rest of it is good advice.
That has nothing to do with the subject of this article whatsoever, which is about how the Taliban do not see women as human.
So how is that relevant?
You don’t even need to leave Afghanistan. Afghanistan before the Soviets invaded was a very different place.

Some of us have the 4K77 project restorations and we will talk to you all about film stock and grain and you will be bored silly. Oh yes you will.
And also maybe about what shitty filmmaker George Lucas actually was from a technical perspective, because watching the 4K77 edition of Star Wars, it’s like he literally did not give a shit what film stock he used. You compare that to the other restorations and it’s like night and day in terms of just basic choices. There are legitimate reasons to grab whatever film stock is available, like you are working on a tiny budget and just have to shoot on weekends and holidays.
That was not the case here.
Also, how do you not go out of your way to protect your negatives from sand in a desert? Seriously, George?
Good news!

She even casually flips her hair (very slowly, and like someone with motor skills issues).
I feel sorry for the people over there who will lose their jobs because of it, but considering I literally cannot understand them half the time I call them, AI would not be all that less frustrating. I hate AI, but outsourcing call centers to countries where people have accents so heavy you can’t understand them even though they’re speaking English (over low-quality connections to boot) is ridiculous.
Wouldn’t that be trivial to avoid with an RFID? Check the RFID when the product comes in, keep it in a database until someone pays for it. If it leaves before it’s paid for, alert security.
You don’t know why I brought up Israel when you brought up Hamas? Because they’re fighting each other right now and Israel is using it as an excuse to cause a genocide which has done far more harm to Palestinian women than Hamas could have ever hoped to have done.
Why did you bring up Hamas? And if you’re going to say, “because they’re Muslims,” why those Muslims?
Exactly the same thing in the U.S. as per our constitution.
The 13th Amendment:
Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.
This almost makes me want to do Riker again, but I’m not ready because they aren’t losing enough. This deserves it though.
Can you point to any of the Hamas supporters on Lemmy? I have yet to meet one.
Rule 1 in this community includes, “title must match the article headline.” OP did as we request.
It’s probably good they have basic religious differences or Republicans and the Taliban would have joined forces by now.
Is this supposed to be some gotcha that justifies Israel’s genocide? Because what does Israel think of all of the women they are killing? And in Syria as well.
It also works better if the sanctions are international. The U.S. embargoing Cuba matters a lot less when people from all over the rest of the world can go to Cuban resorts. My Canadian uncle went a while back.
The Cuban embargo is closer to a little kid refusing to share their toys than an actual sanction program.
Maybe if there is a reserve somewhere that they can do that but they can also keep observing him for any risks. It’s unfortunate, but it is probably best for Zeytin to spend his life somewhere that people can keep an eye on him after the trauma he has gone through.
Five-month-old gorillas are basically toddlers. So we’re talking about a toddler that’s been taken away from his mother and father and will never see them again and has gone through a severely traumatic experience just on the plane. We have no idea what else he’s been through. It’s good to know he’s healing, but that sort of thing might never be healed completely.
I mean… eh… They’re not exactly Archer’s beagle.
