

It’s too much crap now, the prices are going up, but the services are increasingly crap.
Last year, I cancelled my subscription and switched to self-hosting with Navidrome. It does what it’s supposed to do, it does it well, no bullshit algorithms, and there are enough integrations to even provide a basic “discover this new song,” “create a playlist the way I want,” etc.











I’m happy I moved everything over to Navidrome. I use a few useful plugins and ListenBrainz to get playlists generated based on my own music, without any of that AI garbage.
I try to support artists by buying online or picking up CDs when I’m out and about. That said, I admit I do use the *arr stack too; a lot of albums are either impossible to find or cost way too much.
I have no limits or restrictions; I can invite family members without having to pay double or triple for a new subscription, I’m finally listening to music the way it’s meant to be heard.
