The real issue is that you’re using Google Maps and Google Maps is notoriously bad when creating pedestrian or bike routes. For those cases you should use a router that’s based on OpenStreetMap since OSM’s database it’s way better when dealing with foot and bike infrastructure. The same route using an OSM based router gives a perfectly fine walkable route.

And this is why piracy will never cease to exist.

You can’t on osm.org, but you can use MapCompare and see a portion of Earth both on OSM and via Aerial imagery.
