Oh I browse on mobile on the browser too. I think you can click the button with the 3 lines and click Subscribed instead of All to get your subs.
This is also janky atm, but if you want to see your list of the magazines you subscribed to, there actually is a way xD You click Profile, then there’s a bunch of metrics (number of boosts you did, threads you made, etc. ), and you scroll to the right until you see “Subscribed”. When you click that, it shows your magazines so you can go to them. I’m sure they’ll make this a lot easier to get to in the future
What notifications do you have?
I have this
X Notify me of comments in my threads
X Notify me of replies to my threads comments
X Notify me of replies in my posts
X Notify me of replies to my posts comments
Notify me of new threads in a subscribed magazine <- I actually deselected this because I got too many notifications for me to look through

oh maybe we should prepare some instances in advance to invite people to come to. There’s a list of kbin servers, and lemmy servers. I’d just like to know if there’s a way to like mass add some communities. I would make an account on kbin.place, which seems new and for the US, but I don’t know if I can add that many magazines
here is one for kbin https://kbin.social/m/kbinMeta/t/52838/A-starting-guide-to-kbin-social-support-thread-for-new-users
I think lemmy has a documentation website, and even though it’s called documentation, it can be helpful when you want to add a community that’s not already searchable.
I do have a tip for kbin too, which is to visit your Settings sooner than later and opt into notifications so you can actually be able to respond back to people. The default is very barebones which I guess is good
I do think if they open with malicious compliance, it’s better than if they open with moderators that wanna replace and wanna do their best to keep the sub going
Thanks for your answer. It’s making sense to me. I do think this kind of thing might encourage more users to congregate on the large instances, but who knows, maybe it wouldn’t be that bad if we continue making a new large instance if one fills up. Like how we have lemmy.ml, and now filling lemmy.world, and lemmy.world has a good experience.
I also am not entirely sure too how exactly the posts get populated, because I’m visiting some communities I added on that smaller server only a day ago, but it does show some posts from 7- 9 days ago (they don’t have any new comments or anything), so yeah maybe I also don’t completely understand how it works still. I added this one to the server I’m on - lemmy.studio - and I think I only added it today, but it’s showing some from a few days ago: https://lemmy.studio/c/kbinMeta@kbin.social/data_type/Post/sort/Active/page/1
yeah that’s what I’m struggling with too, like it’d be great if we could encourage people to try these, but at the same time I don’t want to give them a bad first impression to turn them off forever if they can not stand it’s still a baby project (understandable). I honestly don’t think it’s that hard to start using these fediverse products though, and I feel like the posts saying “lemmy will never take off”, “kbin is too hard to use” only gave me barriers to start using it. And then when I did start, I was like oh this is great, everyone’s talking, it’s a close community
yeah I think you’re right. I went on lemmy and it looked a little different haha
Do you have to do something special to truly make your account a bot? Like give it a function it can do as a bot? (I’m not trying to make this account a bot though)
What does it mean to be a bot account? I saw the setting, but I didn’t know what it meant
Alright so I went on lemmy cuz I’m using both xD and I can finally see what you meant in your earlier comment. You said do

right? eg. ![image](https://imgur.com/a/g3dJUyy)

and I’ll give postimages a go :) I just used imgur since I knew about it
maybe kbin is too young to be able to do what you’re describing? I’ll put a screenshot of what I can see (desktop for kbin.social)

(btw will you type exactly the command you put, maybe with the code `` option)?
url like this? I typed

I don’t know completely what you mean. I’m on kbin, so currently for me it shows a blue link “image” but it doesn’t seem to do anything when I click it. Wonder if it looks different on lemmy
nice :) im making a lemmy account on lemmy.studio and will wait until they approve my account to give it a try! Might use both kbin and lemmy for fun haha
Is there a way to save a post you like (like on reddit)?
I love avatar the last airbender too. I haven’t found a show like it since. Besides that, I still like anime (though less nowadays because of some sexist parts)
I think that is true that most people will not leave reddit. I’m in a subreddit called redditalternatives, and lately not many people are posting in it anymore. It definitely feels like a niche thing, but I think it’s okay. Reddit won’t last forever, and in the meantime, we can be seeing if fediverse is the way forward. This isn’t the first time reddit screwed up and it won’t be the last.
They’re also I think trying to become like tiktok and give lots of forever scrollable content, but I think tiktok/youtube shorts already fill that niche
I think number 1 is important so it’s easier to move. Otherwise we could feel centralized to one instance rather than feeling free to federate
It could help too if maybe on the sign up page, if an instance is getting full, they suggest some instances that are less full to join. That way people can be guided without having to do research on their own (before they’ve even decided to commit to the fediverse)
Yeah I have noticed on lemmy.studio, a newer server, some of the communities from either kbin or lemmy didn’t update, but then after some time, som of them diiid update, with I think all of the old posts, and even if those old posts didn’t have comments. So maybe that’s why it happened for me but some are still unupdated
