So Gillian’s island was promoting communism along with Star Trek. Pretty cool, however 90%+ of boomer viewers didn’t get it and still became reactionary dickheads. 😞

People like to be performatively stupid and pretend they can’t understand federation despite everyone having email addresses from different providers in exactly the same way.

I wouldn’t have believed it if I didn’t see it myself. It only happened once, but saying that I deactivated my account minutes later in disgust so I couldn’t see it again.

If it happened to everyone all the time then it would be soon be all over the news, but a few selected cases here and there to discredit accounts. Maybe.

Exactly. I knew I had typed it correctly because I always change the capital “I” to a lowercase “i” when typing the name of the temporary entity on my phone.

After posting, the tweet had changed the word to “Russia”. You can’t trust anything on that platform anymore.

I deleted my twitter account last week.

I posted an anti-israel tweet, and after posting the word “israel” had changed to “Russia”. That was a step too far for me. How can anything on there be trusted if they are changing tweets after posting?

You are never going to convince starmer - someone who is a bigger and more compulsive liar than Boris Johnson to make political lying illegal. Especially as lying will be what got him into the position of prime minister in the first place

I’m already one step ahead because I DO reduce my reliance on anything commercial.

Relying on capitalist companies for anything long-lasting or worthwhile is foolish.

Hard to self host is one of those things that has now become received wisdom in tech circles. It isn’t hard to self host email. More people should do it.

Turning your service to shit to extract the most money from your “users” at the expense of usability is the end result of commercialisation in every instance that has ever existed so far during capitalism.

Even if it destroys the product, this will not stop capitalists ruining it in the name of a few extra dollars/currency in the short term.
