Sure thing, it just irks me that Lemmy overall is so negative. It’s basically the opposite of hacker news around here. Having looked at models and what they can do in recent months has been overall positive. Today I used it to write me a firmware for some Chinese hardware I had lying around that had little to no documentation and now does what I want it to do. There’s no harm in that.

I think the engineering part is misleading. If we’d built bridges like we build software. I’ve seen my fair share of legacy code in companies and it is far from what people think of it seems. Actually, that would be critique I have of LLMs. That they copy the style of a project, even if it is horrible.
That said, good models absolutely are helping with real world problems and Lemmy claims it’s literally the spawn of Satan. It’s a bit silly over a tool that has it’s uses. The effects on ram prices and datacenters in general leave plenty of room for us to bicker over, but it’s undeniably a good tool for both debugging and some coding.
Software engineering has always been bad. People just copy pasted stack overflow. Now an LLM copies stack overflow and the documentation.
I switched to cachyOS and the amount of bugs I found in less than 2 hours of use was staggering. I reported some of the issues on their discord because they’re github asked way too much info for me to be arsed. One user reacted with “works on my machine” and I just ignored the problems for now. I think an LLM written patch is the only thing that would bring me to contribute to the fragmented mess.
I disliked poe2 because it added controller focused soulslike gameplay. Some classes play like twin shooter, and as an oldhead Diablo player I want mouse and keyboard control, which sucks. Otherwise it’s a cool game.
3 was okayish after they removed the real money ingame shop, which they felt necessary as they wanted the share of the traded items that previously were sold on ebay at the time. D2 is the best of the series, as it’s still a PC game at heart and not targeting controllers and not mini wow like d4 is. I think a Diablo 2 with a good story and ideas from the mod project Diablo would increase long term playability and get me the most.
I am betting they’ll add movement sets from soulslike games and make it controller first gameplay. Just like path of exile 2. That alone will kill the game for me.

Got photovoltaics and prices are fixed 12 to 24 month here in Germany. Unlike gas I can make electricity myself. The faster we wean off oil, the faster we become unaffected. Also no gas heating helps

Which legal limits? The US? Iran? Whose moral compass does a site need to follow. Legality/morality as an argument on the global Internet is weak in my mind. Also why should a hoster be in charge of what is ethic and what is not? Take spider-man, were the prideflag removal mods stupid? Yes. Does it mean nexus should remove them? No.
Lemmy users can be very weird when it comes to hills to die on. Every social media is federated through screenshots after all.
Personally, I would like more content and active boards, so I’m okay with the reposts because it makes Lemmy a more viable option to replace reddit and make users switch and post real content here.
Actually, when reddit started out the admins themselves had sock puppets to make it look more lively.
This user complained about the OP. The thread starter posts content from reddit here. His argument is that Lemmy is dead without users posting interesting content, so he scrapes reddit and posts it here. Some users don’t like content from reddit here and would prefer only natural user interaction. OP says, if that were the case the entire Lemmy network would be basically empty.

This Firmware was done with gemini (3.8 fast) so not even a very good model. I didn’t even look at the output as antigravity pushed the code directly to the keyboard and now it can do VIA. Usually I use fable 5.1 at work, which is obviously a frontier model. What I did do was set up the entire project by hand, added architecture files and do extremely detailed planning on what is to do. The I let the agent do the job, create tests and follow my initial design. Works pretty well. And even then, a reactor is cheap.
