I’ll go you one further. My vote in my state does absolutely nothing because of the electoral college, gerrymandering, and disenfranchisement. So many many votes against the RNC essentially go into a void. We need to stop blaming voters since it will only further exacerbate disenfranchisement.

A “majority” of Americans in a heavily gerrymandered system with extreme voter disenfranchisement and removing POC folks from at voter roles voted for him. Only 65% of folks with voting rights voted in the election. That’s around 50 million who didn’t vote because of systemic pressure or disenfranchisement or both. The people who did elect him total around 72 million in a country of around 250 million who can vote. They aren’t a majority.

The system is shambles and blaming the voters is misguided. It is programmed against the people and towards the needs of the wealthy.

We are so tired of the gerrymandering. Drive through the state of Missouri and yes you’ll see Trump signs in the sticks, but at the end of the day you see quite a few democrat signs too. And this is rural Missouri I’m talking about. In the cities where the majority of the population and votes are, it is overwhelmingly democrat. But then you get back to the gerrymandering where the enclaves of outright fascism get preference and the main voice.

I’m not saying don’t vote, we must use every lever of power we have left but more must be done. The masses need to protest, strike, and make life simply awful for the white supremacists. Trumpism is a symptom of the larger growing deadly disease. It will persist without him.

The show of force to deter copycats will only do the opposite. That’s basically been the primary consequence of every US military engagement since the Korean War but even further to the merciless genocide campaigns against the indigenous folks of North America.

Not reducing the real exponential harm that the Trump presidency has caused, but we’ve now had two successive presidents where this has been done. Truly absurd.
