  • I personally wish there were more communities - it’s kind of difficult for me to navigate at times when looking for communities especially if they exist in another instance, but otherwise, I have definitely replaced Reddit with this site. I just lurk on Reddit now, don’t upvote or downvote, and just read some stuff that I can’t find over here on my desktop, but here - I am actively engaging. It does feel more chill, and kind of reminds me of Old Internet somehow and I really like how so many people are coming together too to fix bugs and improve the QOL.

  • I definitely agree with this, but damn, the upkeep for having an instance of your own can be a strain on your server, though. We have a small instance of ours in order to subscribe to other instances (not just lemmy.world) and in a span of 4 weeks, the database got up to 6 gigs already… can’t imagine how much it would cost to have more than 15 users. Donations would have to be a default setup if people want a particular instance to keep running and not have it become like Reddit, and I understand better now why some have to pass a particular screening first.

  • Oh, for sure. There will be battles for resources that would probably dwindle exponentially. There will be loads of suffering throughout. I’ve worried so much for years and have made my own contributions to reduce my carbon footprint - recycled and reused as much as I can, not buying a car, among others - and it’s so exhausting to keep caring when the main perpetrators get to keep doing it abundantly relatively scot-free. At this point, it’s just easier for my own mental health to choose my battles and to choose which one to worry more and hopefully help in that aspect. This is one of the main reasons I’ve decided to become childfree; it’s just cruel to bring life to an uncertain world where the bad guys run rampant.

  • I’m feeling pretty sad that Twitter is getting worse and worse after every update. Smaller content creators, aside from their discord, would use Twitter primarily to reach out to their community or get discovered by others who haven’t seen them yet and you didn’t even need Twitter Blue to make that happen. I wonder how this limit is going to affect artists as well who hustle through that website. :<

Onto other news, I hope everyone has a happy rest of their weekend ♥

  • Kinda pretty sad that Dark Souls 3 is still so expensive… ever since Elden Ring blew up, its price has also skyrocketed. It finally got a sale today, but I remember many years ago it had a discount that was much lower.

Nevertheless, I got Alien Isolation, Dark Souls 3, and I’m hoping I can finally get some DAVE THE DIVER, but money is tight at the moment. This Steam Sale arrived at a pretty bad time for me :(
