It’d be nice if op edited the post with this information.
So… cp with extra steps? Sometimes articles really go far not to call things what they are
The announcement is missing mentioning that any content tagged aw NSFW will not be accessible from their app. This was one of the biggest points that made the API changes impracticable for app devs, charging a very significant amount of money for a reduced experience .
This is why I was suggesting you would have conditions to apply these bans, for example that other admins you trust are applying them
I think that should happen too
I think that’s a simplistic view. We’ve seen people defederating or asking for defederation for the existence of a single community. Just because instance admins have different ideas of what’s tolerable doesn’t mean the rest of the communities at large can’t collaborate.
The point where admins would have settings to accept/review ban lists was to reduce the risk of abuse
Can you choose which ones to apply and which ones not to?
lol I wouldn’t be surprised if it did and I didn’t know about it
It does surprise me because from what I’ve been reading the mod tools and ban capabilities were… limited
You could do it so no matter if you tag as lewd or gore there is also a NSFW tag attached
I can’t explain how much this pisses me off
I can’t take my desktop pc to the toilet so…
This seems to work pretty well
I joined lemmy.fmhy.ml because it allowed NSFW without being focused on it and I prefer the more open approach.
I’m very happy with my choice
This doesn’t seems to work very well. I searched for Diablo and got 0 results
Reading through the comments in their post I’m losing the little sympathy I was feeling. It looks like the moderation tool they are hoping for is one that allows their users to access other communities while preventing the other communities from accessing beehaw. That feels shortsighted and selfish, and I would think most communities on that end on the block would block them reciprocally.
I think it’s also important to note, beehaw has the largest amount of blocked communities
I had to add the IP to my hosts file. Google DNS can’t resolve the IP for lemmy.fhmy.ml, even now.
Server: dns.google Address: 8.8.8.8
