hi i’m not entirely new, this is my second attempt at trying the “threadiverse”.
i promise you my partner’s family is very reasonable, we just have issues with coordinating transport.
also we were literally just at the thrift store the other day and i completely forgot to look at forks, although i nearly picked up a fruit bowl/banana hook thing but partner’s mom eventually put it back.
the only member of my immediate family that knows is my younger half-sister and she’s cool because her ex is trans. she’s very respectful of my neopronouns too.
i feel like the only other person that actually knows is my (former) stepdad’s girlfriend that i’m friendly with. i’m not sure if stepdad was ever cognizant of it, but i’m sure he would be cool after learning his nephew is trans.
if i’m careful and never return home, my mother will never know. dad will never know because he’s been dead a decade before i figured it out, but i think he would have been supportive based on him accepting my bisexuality and dating a trans girl about half my life ago. my dad’s former best friend (can’t imagine why he ever was the best friend tbh) hates his trans sister and also strong-armed me into breaking up with that trans girl…
there’s a fork in our house, used to be part of a 4 piece set but the other 3 vanished at some point, that’s just a fork head mounted on a rounded black plastic handle. over the years this fork’s handle has become viscerally upsetting to hold as it deforms and bubbles from having sat too long in dishwater. i hate it. i wish it to be gone from our silverware collection like its ilk. i will literally go to the thrift store and pick up several all-metal pieces to replace it, just let me get rid of this one.
every time it happens i wanna beat my head against the wall, it’s genuinely infuriating
so far my setup using disroot’s searxng instance with ublacklist (already mentioned), some recommended blocklists for it, and banger for universal DDG bangs has been extremely non-frustrating (except one crashout i had when ublacklist updated with a method for adding custom search engines which forced me to write a custom entry for disroot that didn’t initially work despite it working OOB perfectly fine before that) and my preferred experience. another example of my linux user autism taking over.

it’s been very hard for me to focus on, especially with life kicking me in the teeth lately, but for the last 4 years or so i’ve been slowly chipping away at a “sequel” fic to infinity train book 4 that explores weird things that could happen long after you disembark the train. or rather, weird things that could happen almost immediately when min-gi speedruns to the bargaining stage of grief after ryan bleeds out from getting stabbed in a bar fight during a gig and accepts the help of a rogue morgue technician to try and resurrect him.
it’s meant to be “b-grade” horror with some comedy, gay romance (ofc), and high-concept necromantic lore… but in my head it’s mostly ghoul ryan go brrrrr.

yeah that makes sense. earlier in the year when we had to heavily budget groceries, we’d end up getting packages of precut beef strips and lower quality ground beef and some of the meals prepared with them by my partner’s mother were always really off. and yeah i think it’s absolutely because they weren’t seared if i understood this correctly.
another food-related one i’ve noticed: sometimes walking through the bread aisle, some types of tortillas seem to give off a strong stale smell as well. ETA: it’s probably cornmeal actually. wet cornmeal has a horrid smell.
there’s this sort of hot stale smell that certain cuts of beef give off when being cooked that make me lose my appetite, does anyone know what i mean?
