  • Security is there to make sure you’re not carrying illegal stuff, as long as that’s fine, the only time they maybe check the id is before giving you the boarding pass.

Looks like the guy didn’t have a boarding pass altogether, so not sure how he got into the plane.

There is usually a person or an automatic gate that checks your pass before allowing you through the plane. However that’s more like a ticket check and to make sure people don’t get on the wrong planes, it’s probably not super hard to get around.

Gnome is great because of the large UI size. Like my 14" notebook has a roughly 2800x1600 screen resolution and it’s still pretty usable without any UI scaling. If the bars are an inch tall, you’re either using a huge TV or a screen from the garbage dump. Gnome really needs a modern system.

I mean, they seem to have basic grammar for items and people and actions (“eyes”, “walls”, “fell”), it’s possible that they only use that weird allegory reference pattern when speaking formally to strangers or whatever. It’s also possible that their language in the original version makes more sense and is more practical and it just gets mangled by the universal translator.

    The “q. s.” remains a mystery though.

q.s. means quantum satis and is Latin for “as much as necessary”. Which means they add enough for the right consistency or flavour or whatever, but the exact amount isn’t given and might vary.

Still sounds implausible and far fetched. Why would you be outside without adequate clothing? (Also below zero can be fine in jeans and sweatshirt if the sun is shining and there isn’t much wind). And in that case it would be more a heat issue and less like a shelter issue.

The other case also sounds more like a heat/water issue and less like a shelter issue.

  • Because it’s probably a mess of code copied from multiple dubious sources that would potentially cause legal trouble it it became public.

Also if there are multiple developers, often including outsourced code or framework code that is licensed under certain conditions, it can be very difficult to get the full rights needed for a relicense. And you don’t gain anything, you just risk that people find bugs or other problems with your code and sue you or make fun of you or whatever.

Also, many internal code contains private information in the comments, like internal memos, names of employees, internal jokes, and so on, and cleaning that up before a release would take a lot of time.
