  • This is common. I expect you’re hearing more because there are some actual huge strides happening now in solid state and sodium based batteries, mainly from China.

“A perfect battery” is the limiting factor for a huge amount of technology, and has sweeping ramifiactions. From power generation to transportation to climate change to all electronics, to geopolictal power over fossil fuels and rare minerals, getting to “the perfect battery” will shift our world drastically. Its a “silver bullet” tech, which is why reporting and hype about it is so hyperbolic.

  • Slap one of these under or behind your tv. Put pop-os Linux on it it. You can run pihole/Jellyfin/kodi off it at the same time. It will host your anime and index it with jellyfin, filter your entire network for ads, and give you kodi’s excellent interface.

Jellyfin can grab metadata/subtitles/autoskip intros/on and on and has native kodi integration. It will run better on a beefer PC than the one above, but if youre just using it on 1 tv with kodi, you should be fine.

  • Capitalism is a trauma machine.

When you grow up in poverty, you keep something because it will most likely be the only one of those things you will ever get. You may not need it now, but if you do later, youre fucked. So you keep it. Best case? You share “the things” with people you can trust and build a mutual aid network of friends that help each other, but by god you make sure you can get to “the things.”

It’s no wonder people being exposed to constant trauma do protective things. You could even say it’s a reasonable response.

  • People said good shit about cyberpunk 2077 at release.

Take games journalism with a grain of salt. Even the largely honest ones generally only get the first “X minutes” to demo, which designers pack impressive moments into for the press, but then the rest of the game is half baked or a slog.

Take fallout 4 as an example. They throw you into a laser battle, in full power armour, with a death claw in the first hour. Do you keep the armor? No. Do you keep going toe to toe with deathclaws? No. You get made into a minuteman bitch seconds after and then have to set up 638 settlements. Guess which part the press got to see before release?

    No preorders is always right.

  • Have to give lies of P lots of credit for adding “adjust anytime” difficulty settings. Most souls-likes wont budge here with difficulty settings at all, likely due to the rabid fan pushback, but this was a huge plus to me.

As someone who dislikes the punishing “fail for 3hrs over and over again” genre mechanics but likes everything else about the game, it went from a “no thanks” to “buyable” with that change.
