I think I’m actually pretty close with Aelurillus, but jumping spiders are a pain.

I’m probably off, but I was about to suggest Sitticus but in the process I learned they have been moved to Attulus. I have to look into that.

Generally from above (dorsal) but jumping spiders are just hard in general. Especially juvenile. But if you really want to know a specific Salticidae ID, I got a guy I can bother. Just let me know.

Honestly, makes no difference from that angle. It could be hundred things on every continent.

My point was there are a lot of jumping spiders (even in Europe) and I’m quite bad at them. And some angles really don’t help.

Philaeus chrysops I think. That one is not from Europe dafuq … it is.

I practised my microscopy skills on of them. Catching them is easy, just put a container under their web and startle them. They will just drop straight down. Cut the line, and you got her.

But knowing that you took all the pictures yourself does narrow it down. The Argiope bruennichi pretty much confirmed it’s Europe.

It’s fine. Obviously this community doesn’t support killing spiders, but context matters. Collecting samples often involves killing individual spiders, I’ve done it myself.

A wasp spider, Argiope bruennichi.

Oh, that’s just for play time with random jumping spiders I found. I think my brother had some Phidippus at one point, but I never “kept” jumping spiders myself. I kept tarantulas years ago, but these days I’m much better with true spiders.

I’d say this is Misumessus. Are you in the Americas?
