  • As a person who is not diagnosed ADHD or autism (but has traits of both), what’s made sense for me with meditation is that it’s about relaxed attention. Choosing to focus your mind on something specific (for example, the sensations of breathing in and out, or even something simple like counting). Recognize that yes, your mind will wander, and you’ll catch yourself drifting off to think about the show you just watched or the burrito in the fridge or how stupid meditation is… And that’s normal. The practice of meditation is catching that your mind wandering, acknowledging that with kindness and without judgment, and going back to what you were focusing on for your meditation. Don’t be hard on yourself! Every time you catch your mind wandering, you are actually SUCCEEDING (because you recognized it), and are PRACTICING catching your mind wander and practicing getting back on track. :)

For me, that’s what made it work. Focusing on nothing or letting my mind wander just leads to anxiety about doing it wrong and boredom, but gently focusing on something neutral and just practicing catching myself wandering is something I can do.

  • Last year around April I started dual booting pop OS (24.04 alpha 7 with cosmic DE) just to see how it is, and it became my daily driver. So far it plays all games I want to play (granted, I don’t play “online” multiplayer games) and I only keep windows around for access to the Xbox accessories app to calibrate controllers. Ended up installing it on a shared laptop once it hit beta, and now that it’s actually just released, it’ll probably become the daily driver for my wife’s work computer. I’ve had no issues with Nvidia GPUs, for what it’s worth

Epic pays the publisher a flat fee for permission to distribute the game for free for the week.

Your individual download doesn’t give Rowling any less or more, but shows support for her IP, and tells epic they made a good decision to support her.

I’ve heard great things about the game, but for me the download does support Rowling, so it’s a hard pass.

  • From a functionality standpoint, I find windows 11 to be adequate. I like how Linux comes with edge and other things pre-uninstalled, and doesn’t have AI shoved into every crack or crevice. The final straw for me for windows 11 was finding out that if I wanted to disable AI from notepad, that I’d need to do so manually. I can’t be spending all my time in windows figuring out what they’ve added ai to and figuring out how to purge it out without breaking things.

Been on pop OS almost a year and never looked back.

I think so, yes. I don’t want features that are privacy invasive that will likely be turned on by default when they show up. I’d rather not have the worry that something in the background may be harvesting data to feed to a model somewhere. Were this an extension that needs to be installed independently in order to even be present, would i agree? Sure. As a “now this app has AI built in” feature? Absolutely not. I will keep avidly avoiding software which adds AI, whether it’s something I use or not.
