The up-front cost of setting up additional factories, especially for the custom high precision optics, would be a massive waste. The other option would be to build up a larger stockpile before the product is released, but then you’d still be waiting all the same.

In terms of hardware, Valve is not a significant player. They sell niche products meant for enthusiasts, and the lottery is the most pragmatic way to get them into hands.

Please suggest an alternative, then, that prevents scalping and doesn’t only favor the specific demographic that you are in.

Besides, there is nothing misleading about it. I’ve learned more about Linux from breaking and then fixing my system than any course or tutorial could teach me. And that isn’t just knowledge, it’s real experience that I could apply professionally when one of our ancient Ubuntu servers crapped out.

For a beginner who is interested in learning how Linux works, Arch’s inherently higher requirement for technical skills (or the ability and willingness to develop those skills) may be more valuable than just having a stable and reliable system.

It’s a perfectly valid reason to fail, and that’s because Concord was an always-online multiplayer PvP title. Games in that genre are kept alive by the players. If they can’t maintain a critical mass of players to maintain the multiplayer playerbase, the game dies.

Concord entered a saturated market with nothing special to offer. Just being a good game today isn’t enough. You need something special to attract players from other games; their “home” games, where they have experience, friends, competitive ranks and prestige, and probably spent money on cosmetics. If you don’t have that something to raise interest, and then maintain a healthy playerbase, your multiplayer PvP game will not survive. Highguard at least had “we made Titanfall (allegedly)” to hype itself and it still ate shit once players realized they’d been handed a lemon. Compared to that, Concord has no redeeming qualities whatsoever, and players had no reason to even consider it.

They’ve always been violently litigious against any kind of preservation effort. Apparently this disdain for preservation goes back to the Super Famicom/SNES generation.

There’s no way in hell a Galaxy-class starship has enough delta-v in its cargo bays to meaningfully affect its trajectory, not to mention that the thrust vector wouldn’t be aligned with the ship’s center of mass and most of it would be wasted. Fedora is a very early adopter of new technologies, often even earlier than Arch. Any issues that may arise from major upgrades or changes, you are most likely to be exposed to them on Fedora.
