Patient Gamers@sh.itjust.works•Weekly Recommendations Thread: What are you playing this week?
6·7 days agoLook, I may have spent the past several weeks playing Path of Exile non-stop. But I’m back on SOMA now. Back to slowly walking on the ocean floor and being interrupted by monsters while I read lore notes.
It’s also time to start up TF2 again, since a new community MvM event has started on potato.tf.

Video Game Suggestions@lemmy.zip•List of games where you play as a rat or mouseEnglish
9·13 days ago- Bad Rats: the Rats’ Revenge — we’re allowed to suggest terrible games, right?
- Moss and Moss: Book II — VR third-person adventure, though I guess you’re really playing as a separate character from the mouse
- Sunderfolk — co-op tactics combat with a tiny hint of tabletop RPG influence. One of the playable characters is a jerboa. Does that count?
- Rules & Rodents — grid-based puzzles where you set the rules for how enemies move
- MOUSE: P.I. For Hire — boomer shooter with a noir theme and art style from the golden age of animation
- Mina the Hollower releases this year. It’s a top-down action game styled like it’s from a Game Boy Color.
- Pipsqueak! is not released but there is a demo. It’s a pixel art metroidvania.

askgaming@piefed.social•Are there immersive Sims that solve the meta dominance and completionist urge problems?English
5·13 days agoWell, no one said immersive sims have to be 3D action games where you either fight or hide!
Mosa Lina calls itself “a hostile interpretation of the immersive sim”. It’s an aggressively random puzzle platformer where the levels are randomly generated and the tools you have to solve them are also randomly assigned to you. Mosa Lina is a puzzle game that wants you to be clever, not smart, since there’s no predefined solution and success depends on your understanding of the tools and how they interact.
Rain World is a physics-heavy survival game with a simulated ecosystem. I’ve played a bit of it on a friend’s system. You play as a small creature who’s been separated from its family and you have to find them again while avoiding predators, catching food, and sheltering from lethal rainstorms. Since other creatures independently wander around the game world and attack each other, navigating your surroundings is often unpredictable.

Games@lemmy.world•What game do you personally have the most hours played in?English
2·13 days ago1800 hours and counting on Path of Exile. With how major game updates are scheduled, either I’m sitting it out for months or it’s all I play, depending on if the expansion interests me. This pattern has been going on since I joined the open beta in 2013.
The large variety of builds, extremely vast endgame, and very high power ceiling means that there’s always more stuff to play and more improvements you can make.

Video Game Suggestions@lemmy.zip•[Request] Something With "Depth"English
4·16 days agoI very recently started trying the demo for Casualties: Unknown, a survival game that seems to have that exact layers thing you’re asking for. You’re dropped into the opening of a vast cave in an alien planet and you have you venture down through eleven layers. The demo has five.
It’s brutally difficult and very grim in tone. It’s often compared to Rain World or Project Zomboid. I haven’t even managed to make it through the first layer.

3·17 days agoI’ve done that with Jazztronauts, a game mode for Garry’s Mod. I wrote about it on !games@lemmy.world. You explore real maps on the Garry’s Mod workshop for stuff to steal, but that’s really just an excuse to go sightseeing in custom maps and hang out.
