Element is (impressively enough) also much more buggy than Discord.
I find it actually pretty straightforward for a non-technical person. The default settings all work fine. The more complicated stuff is relatively buried.
Matrix I feel is one of the better os for newbies
You just send them towards element.io. Or at least that’s what I did with my friend, when I wanted them to switch
I mean, you can banish it to a browser, a dedicated even if you really wanted to. Matrix is not exactly the most beginner friendly thing tbh
matrix through Element is as user-friendly as discord 🤷
I haven’t tried Matrix but I wouldn’t call Discord user friendly either 🤪

Newbies don’t need that when starting, and at least they will have a solid ground to work with.
