Guillotines have been used effectively to enact change within deeply corrupt societies. It’s not about “someone (we) don’t like”. It’s about mass murder, and sending a message that people’s lives aren’t expendable so that executive bonuses and stock buybacks can be increased. It’s about the fact that working within the system as it stands currently has not worked. Just look at companies like Anthem, trying to put time limits on anaesthesia coverage. Why should we all sit idly by while the envelope keeps getting pushed further and further? Death is the only language these people understand.
Let me ask you, should the allies have stood by and done nothing while Hitler and the Nazi party exterminated people? Would you have shed a tear if Hitler were murdered by the allies? Do we not judge the german people of the era for not standing up to fight against tyranny? Was that a “Lord of the flies situation”?
Just remember, the Nazi party started their genocide, by murdering the sick, and the disabled.
Say someone is holding a bunch of people hostage, at gunpoint.
Is it justified to “murder” them?
Now turn the gun into a massive industry that puts itself between people and healthcare in order to profit off the need for care. And turn that room full of hostages into 1/3 of the country.
Morals are relative. If this CEO was in his truck running down the sidewalk crushing people, it’s justified to shoot them if you can.
Murder isn’t necessarily good but I do in fact think it’s good when bad things happen to bad people. If you want to wring your hands over the death of him then go right ahead, the rest of us are quite happy with the state of affairs
Murder isn’t good or bad, it depends on the context. Always.
Soldiers murdering soldiers isn’t called murder, but it is, we just don’t like to call it that because it’s uncomfortable, so we bullshit ourselves by saying “it’s not murder, it’s war!” War being that thing where old men order young men to go murder one another to increase or preserve the old men’s power.
If you want to keep your mind closed, fine. But one should always be open to having their views challenged and having their mind changed, that’s called thinking.
Those who refuse to think in the name of maintaining their positions/views/opinions as they are just die stupid/ignorant.
Murder is not good, it never is. But if this guy really is involved in the suffering of milions, and the death of many through financial debt, all of this to enrich himself and his goon, well then I don’t justify murder, but I am sure as hell not going to cry any tear for him. Especially in a system where people like him don’t fave any consequence for ruining people’s life.
Here’s a moral dilemma for you: would you kill Hitler if you got traspodted in 1945 and were in a room with him and a gun in your hand? Of course they are not the same situation, but if you apply a digital idea of morality (murder = good/bad) you should let Hitler live and make him cotinue killing millions
Our empathy was stolen from us by CEOs like that dead guy. This is the results of their actions. I’m not murdering. I just don’t care about catching him. I don’t care because of their actions.
When a shitty person dies it’s difficult to care about because they’ve spent years if not decades denying empathy to everyone else. Hitler, school bullies, etc to anyone affected by either would you expect them to be sad at their funeral?
I’m not out here throwing a party but I’m not pretending some rich twatnugget I don’t know deserves the space in my brain to care.
Claims to empathy are denied when they’ve never had empathy for their “customers”.
Is empathy the reason you don’t murder? Hooray for murder if it’s someone I don’t like?

Never thought I’d live to be in a Lord of the flies situation. Y’all won’t convince me murder is good. Disgusting.

So you’re a Kantian deontologist?
So you would not pull the lever. Got it.

Then get the fuck out of the way liberal. Nobody is asking you to murder people.

We should strive to have empathy for all.
But yeah, it’s hard to have empathy for a gas chamber operator, an American Healthcare insurance ceo, etc…
There are limits to empathy, like empathizing with practicing murderous sociopaths.
