Hello fellow humans,

I’m the creator of the NewsAutoMod. In this post I will explain how it works, and what my plans for the future are.

So, how does it work? The automod uses the Lemmy api to retrieve all new posts in this community, and then uses the “newspaper module” for python, to grab the article title that is linked in your post. It than compares the titles, and if it’s more than 20% different, it will send you a little message. No data is stored, other than the postID, so it knows to skip your post next time it scans the community.

What are my plans for the future? I am planning to refine the bot, to reduce the amount of false positives. And I’m planning to make it delete it’s own comments when it detects that the post it commented to has changed it’s title to match the article’s title. I am not planning on making it delete posts that don’t change their title, as frankly, I don’t trust my bot (:

If you click on my username, you can see the format of the warning messages, what I’m looking for is some feedback to this, what information do you think would be usefull in that message? Do you want to shorten it? Any ideas are welcome.

If you have any questions or suggestions, just shoot me a message.
