Rachel Corrie, 1979-2003 (she died 22 years ago today)
Rachel, an American #peace #activist, was killed when Israeli soldiers crushed her with a #bulldozer
She was trying to prevent the demolition of a Palestinian family’s home in #rRafah by Israeli occupation forces, before they left Gaza abd turned it into a giant concentration camp.

When this incident happened long ago, I was just as ambivalent as I was ignorant about Israel. Now that I’ve learned more about Israel and Zionism I look at her death as a waste. She almost certainly knew more then I know about the history of Israeli oppression, their tactics, and their ultimate goal and lack of morality. So knowing what I know, if I’m going to die fighting Israel it won’t be by non-violent (in)action.
Martyrdom will never stop evil.
@PowerCrazy @faab64 As I said with Aaron Bushnell, anyone that dedicated is worth INFINITELY MORE alive, to their cause.
Ps. For the record, you DO NOT CHOOSE to be a martyr. Martyrdom happens.

It is sad to see such comment, comparing a young woman who was MURDERED and the first thing you come up with is the person who self-sacrificed to draw attention.
Rachel didn’t commit suicide.
Rachel didn’t chose death.
Rachel didn’t bear arms.
She just stood in front of a freaking bulldozer to prevent it from illegally demolish a Palestinian doctor during the illegal occupation of Gaza in Rafah.
And for that she was brutally CRUSHED to death.
