    In Germany it’s also a criminal offence to endorse or approve criminal offenses

    Oh, wow! I didn’t know that. At first sight, it looks like a pretty terrible approach. Can it be used to silence people who oppose a particular law? Imagine at some point the government forbids petting puppies and somebody wants defend how petting puppies is a great way spend an afternoon.

      It only applies to certain crimes like:

      one of the cases of breach of the peace specified in section 125a sentence 2 nos. 1 to 4,

      1. an offence against sexual self-determination in the cases referred to in Section 177 (4) to (8) or Section 178,
      2. murder (Section 211), manslaughter (Section 212) or genocide (Section 6 of the German Code of Crimes against International Law) or a crime against humanity (Section 7 of the German Code of Crimes against International Law) or a war crime (Sections 8, 9, 10, 11 or 12 of the German Code of Crimes against International Law),
      3. Dangerous bodily harm (Section 224) or grievous bodily harm (Section 226),
      4. an offence against personal liberty in the cases of Section 232 (3) sentence 2, Section 232a (3), (4) or (5), Section 232b (3) or (4), Section 233a (3) or (4), in each case insofar as they are crimes, Sections 234, 234a, 239a or 239b,
      5. robbery or predatory extortion (Sections 249 to 251 or 255),
      6. a crime dangerous to the public in the cases of sections 306 to 306c or 307 paragraphs 1 to 3, section 308 paragraphs 1 to 3, section 309 paragraphs 1 to 4, sections 313, 314 or 315 paragraph 3, section 315b paragraph 3, section 316a paragraph 1 or 3, section 316c paragraph 1 or 3 or section 318 paragraph 3 or 4 or
      7. an offence dangerous to the public in the cases of section 309(6), section 311(1), section 316b(1), section 317(1) or section 318(1)
