I know that we are not the best at names, but this sometimes gets quite confusing

Turn lemons into lemonade! Hold a combined renaming vote and fundraiser: €1 a vote, with money going to support development and/or instances.

Although we all know what the final result will be:

They are not, but the names are close enough that people misread on for the other (example in the body of the post)

I think it’s a problem in the wider FLOSS community, we need better marketing.

Just saw this! I’m pretty new to Lemmy - about 6 months. I really wanted a lemmy app that was cross platform, optimized for larger and smaller screens, and had some offline capabilities.

I have a big update in the works for Blorp, and I will be launching Android beta very soon. Currently it’s web, MacOS, and iOS. Linux will likely be next after Android.

Still a lot of work to do, but I think I’ve laid a really good foundation so far.

          Try it!

I think since everything is using slightly modularised software that integrates each other you end up being overwhelmed by so many names.

Like reddit is just reddit. But to use the lemmyverse you have “fediverse”, “activitypub”, then “lemmy”, “mbin”, “piefed”, (Not to mention all the instances and frontends) etc etc

Nerds and terrible at naming things, name a more iconic duo LMAO

If its not that, it sounds like something straight outta star trek. Sometimes I’ll be reading some technical things from Intel or Cisco or something and it’ll be like “With our new Hyper-Ribbon-Flex-Optical-InterConnect”

Btw Tachyons are an official science thing now
