How do I get it to actually work though? Everytime I toggle that slider, I get an error.

Just adding that I have the same problem. Whether I try to enable or block NSFW content it won’t save. I can only change it if I log into the web interface

What’s weird, is that I don’t have any filters at all, and I have nsfw content allowed in the settings. Yet, I’ve never seen any porn through the sync app. Like, not even once. But I keep seeing people talk about how much porn there is all over the place. I’m very confused.
If your own instance doesn’t federate with NSFW instances, you won’t see any.
I also have it allowed and I only saw when browsing All. Just had to block LemmyNSFW
In my experience it depends on how you browse. I have seen porn if I browse by everything/new. This had lead to me blocking a lot of random stuff, not just porn. But if I’m just scrolling subscribed/active or subscribed/new I don’t see porn. It may also depend on whether your instance is federated with the instance that supplies most porn.

Did you try searching for NSFW in the settings? There’s an option for it
This is a workaround, not a solution, but you could set your default view to Subscribed instead of All and then you’d only see the stuff you have chosen to see. Not perfect, but it’s one possibility.
If the posts are coming from a porn specific Lemmy instance, you can block it entirely in the filters section. Here’s a shortcut: Settings shortcut: Filters > Instance filters

Torture porn? Haven’t seen anything I would classify as that.
I blocked the Lemmy NSFW instance, and that made all the porn go away, which is what I wanted (you do you guys I just don’t care for it).

For the first few weeks I was continuously blocking communities to get rid of it until I realized blocking the right instance would do it. Now I don’t see any.

I did it through the connect app.
Honestly I have two Lemmy accounts. One for normal browsing and one for porn. The porn one I only look at pre subscribed subs, so I don’t get random shit. Normal account is NSFW free which is just great.
But turning on a NSFW filter blocks some funny shit that’s just naughty, not pornographic.
