I wonder why.
This case, if done correctly, can be a game changer for a lot of us.
Well, he may be right about that, but probably not in the way he imagined.
“Correctly” is doing a huge lift in that sentence.
I find stuff like this really sad, like what happened to these people that they think normal laws don’t apply.
A lot of them are self employed, and I think not having other people around you makes you more prone to get suckered.
It’s the opposite… They believe in laws so hard they lose all common sense
The worst part is they’re kinda right much of the time. A cop really isn’t allowed to demand your ID just because you were driving, they are not supposed to have they ability.
The stuff they say about free travel isn’t nonsense, it’s actually a very important right we’ve allowed to be taken away
But obviously, you still have to show ID, because the law is nonsense. We learn it by gossiping, we enforce it based on what cops think is legal
Obviously, the court will not rule that capital one has to discharge the debt, because, lawful or not, our entire economy is based on debt
It’s sad, because these people believe in the rules too hard… They haven’t understood the absurdity of our society. They think underneath it all, there must be some kind of fairness
wait, why can’t a cop ask to see your license to drive a dangerous machine at high speed?
cops (or a member of the equivalent enforcing body) can ask to see your hunting and fishing and boating licenses, what’s the difference?
Because your traveling. That’s an enshrined right we have given up. The government isn’t supposed to restrict your right to travel freely, which was an intentional choice and not the case everywhere
Freedom of travel shouldn’t be taken for granted. Right now we technically have it, but it’s tracked everywhere. You shouldn’t have to show ID at the airport or a bus station, but at this point you do. It’s not a far cry from there to needing to have travel permits… It’s basically what’s being done to immigrants at this point, they can travel, but they’ll be harassed and possibly arrested
Now, there are some practical considerations when it comes to cars, but the right itself is basically non-existent at this point
yes, you’re travelling, and you’re doing so using a regulated machine
the idiots who don’t understand the distinction… well, they’re idiots
You are free to travel between states. You do not need a license to do this. You only need a license if you want to do so while operating a motor vehicle on a road maintained by tax dollars.
You need a license to operate a motor vehicle, but you shouldn’t have to submit to a search (eg presenting identification) without a reason. They should need probable cause
Like I said, there’s practical considerations here, but the right itself has been given up in favor of enforcement
Also, how do you actually travel between state lines without ID? It’s now required for a bus, train, or plane. You could be a passenger, but you probably can’t ride a bike or walk legally unless you cross through a town on the border. And you definitely can’t do it safely because of cars
You could be a passenger in a private car, although police are likely to harass you if you hitchhike. And passengers are increasingly being forced to identify during traffic stops, another way the right continues to be eroded
A right you can only practice theoretically isn’t a right
Probable cause like not having a valid license plate? And no, one that simply says “PRIVATE” does not count. It doesn’t matter if the vehicle is for non-commercial use; if it’s on public, taxpayer-funded roads, its operator had better be a taxpayer.
Also there’s nothing stopping you crossing state lines on foot, or a bicycle, or any other non-regulated form of transit you don’t need ID to make use of.
Also can you quickly show me where the right to travel without a government ID is enshrined? I must have missed that in my constitutional research.
Also there’s nothing stopping you crossing state lines on foot, or a bicycle, or any other non-regulated form of transit you don’t need ID to make use of.
Physically could you? Sometimes… Good luck going between cities safely and/or legally though. In some places it’s very possible, but most of the country cars are the only safe way to travel for any real distance
A right that can’t be practically used isn’t a right anymore
Also can you quickly show me where the right to travel without a government ID is enshrined? I must have missed that in my constitutional research.
It’s the fourth amendment, being forced to present ID is a search. The State is not supposed to be able to search you just because they feel like it.
If you could get on a bus or train without ID, it would be less of a big deal since there are practical considerations to operating a dangerous machine. But we’re becoming less free by the day
Rights have to be fought for. They erode if you don’t push for them
I actually just think they shouldn’t be allowed to run your plate or check your license unless there’s reasonable articulable suspicion of a crime. Such as driving in an unsafe manner
A cop really isn’t allowed to demand your ID just because you were driving, they are not supposed to have they ability.
They’re not. They’re asking to see your license to operate that vehicle. On public roads. In accordance with the law in that locality.
Many people have IDs or passports that prove their identity, but do not grant them the legal right to operate a motor vehicle. And you’re right: police aren’t (supposed to be) allowed to demand “Papers, please!”
The “case law” is to become president to avoid legal processes against you, then abuse the fuck out of your new power in order to eliminate your responsibilities. A real time example of how to do this is occurring as we speak.
I hope he “has fun” enjoying the consequences of his actions.
“Nonpayment” of your debts will “get you fucked,” just like the rest of us, sovcit.
Man getting a corporation to do something they’re supposed to do is hard enough, getting them to do things that are batshit? Well, good luck
Reminds me of making it pay someone 1 trillion dollars.
They always have these “payment coupon” stuff to use, i wonder if they got shown a payment coupon by others and demand to accept as a payment.
