We recently subscribed to AppleTV+ (you get a pretty decent trial from just download the app on a playstation by the way). And are looking for exclusives to watch on the service. Of course everyone recommends Ted Lasso and we have started that. My wife, has already watched through “The Morning Show” and liked it.

Especially looking for good movie suggestions as those don’t require as much of a time investment for me.

What does everyone on Lemmy watch on the service?

Ted Lasso, Silo, Invasion, Servant, Station 11, Slow Horses, For All Mankind, Foundation, Severance, The Last Thing He Told Me, Liaison, See, Hello Tomorrow!, Mythic Quest, Schmigadoon!, Home Before Dark.

Honestly, Apple has been the closest to a can’t-miss studio/production company over the last few years, for me and my wife.

Severance gets a lot of talk, which is well deserved, but I also second Slow Horses because I feel like I never hear about it and it’s also good (through Season 1 at least, that’s all I’ve watched so far).

The Morning Show is also pretty good.

Still salty Hello Tomorrow! doesn’t seem to get a season two.

Severance is the best show on there in my opinion. It’s the most wild and “new” feeling show. Something I’d never seen before type of stuff.

My dark horse pick for one of the best comedies on there is a show called Trying. It’s about a couple trying to adopt a child. I personally have never wanted kids, but this show has a ton of heart and it’s really funny. No one talks about it, but I love it.

Defending Jacob is a pretty good show about a family who has a kid that may or may not have done a pretty terrible crime. Chris Evans stars as an attorney caught up in the case. Does he follow the law or defend his son?

If you have a good TV, some of the nature docs are good, too. There’s one narrated by Paul Rudd about tiny animals, and it’s super pretty.

Severance, For All Mankind (especially the first 2 season), Foundation is good (just don’t go in expecting a straight book adaptation).

CODA is fantastic, if you haven’t seen it already. I also liked Tetris, Greatest Beer Run, and Palmer.

The shows, though, are really where it’s at - For All Mankind is sooo good, Severance was incredible, Shrinking is very enjoyable, and Foundation is pretty cool as long as you can divorce it from the books.

    • Silo is very good.
    • Shining Girls was also interesting.
    • Severance was wild in a good way.
    • First two seasons of For All Mankind were fun. Third season was bad. But fourth season got good again.
    • Foundation was a mixed bag.

Morning show was just meh. Invasion was laughably bad.

I’ve really liked all the seasons of For All Mankind. This seasons was a slow start with a lot of time establishing stuff, but I though it ended pretty well when all the parts came together.

I didn’t care to watch the morning show. It was ok, but I felt like there was a lot of proselytizing. I didn’t actually think that it was trying to push a political bias but mere depict that their characters were biased despite being in a profession that is supposed to be unbiased. Also there characters are hard to root for so it felt like there is no real protagonist.
