Pre-workout supplements promising extra energy for workouts may come with a hidden cost: severely reduced sleep. A study of people aged 16–30 found users were more than twice as likely to sleep five hours or less per night. Many of these products pack huge doses of caffeine and stimulants that can linger for hours. Researchers say the findings raise concerns about the impact on young people’s health and development.
Clickbait headline. Preworkout contains caffeine. Caffeine makes you sleep less/worse. This isn’t news. People should be informed about the negative health impacts of poor sleep quality and how caffeine can influence that - but this is about caffeine consumption, not preworkout per se.
Also, it isn’t “dangerous” - you aren’t going to drop dead of a heart attack because you drank preworkout. You will just suffer from poor quality sleep, which will have negative health impacts if it is chronic.
It actually is news. Lots of people don’t know anything about caffeine/preworkout stuff. And yes, it can be dangerous if you take a pre-workout and don’t realize there is caffeine in it. Caffeine is mostly harmless, but it’s def bad for some people with heart conditions.
Now was there anything new in this article for me or for you? Know. But you’d be shocked at how many people just don’t know what goes on with the stuff they ingest.
