On a community called “Lemmy Be Wholesome”. You comment that someone should be murdered for making a charitable donation.
I feel sorry for you dude. You need some friends or something. Your comments come across like a desperate cry for help from a place of great loneliness.
I mean, while the tone is definitely inappropriate, I agree with the user that there is very little wholesome about relying on the whims of the rich and privileged to make health and research progress…
(1) that’s not what they said (even though that is what they should have said) You are attempting to sane-wash the situation.
What they actually said was to murder the person - not change the laws of society, not make lasting change that will impact others and future generations; their suggestion began and ended with murdering the singular person involved. Retribution is not lasting change.
(2) rule 2 of this community is “No promoting violence/threats against any individuals”, so let me ask you: should consent matter? Is rape okay? Is murder? Maybe rape is allowed, but only under certain conditions? Regardless, this is not the place for those discussions - a CLEAR, UNAMBIGUOUS line was drawn, and this person just shat all over it. Even if you are okay with the murder part, of someone you feel deserves it, it goes against the spirit of this community. “The home to heal your soul. No bleak-posting!”
This is NOT what empathy looks like.
(Edit: @LadyButterfly@piefed.blahaj.zone I am okay if you want to remove my comment along with the original that started this chain, if you feel it is appropriate. Thank you for watching over the community!)
I said the tone was inappropriate, this is literally it, what they said was not appropriate, neither in a conversation nor in this community, and we agree, I don’t know why you’re looking to fight where there is no reason. I just agreed with what was implied rather than said, it seemed pretty clear.
Your comparison with various and horrible crimes, is both fallacious and even more inappropriate for the community than what was first said by the user, so congrats about that I guess.
I’ll end by saying again that I am not looking to fight, I’m subbed here to see wholesome and indeed soul healing content, and I was only signifying that there was little about that in the original post… Thanks also to the mod(s), for all your work here and elsewhere !
It seems that your heart was in the right place:-).
The original person may likewise have wanted to have meant well, but I wanted to point out how that mode of thinking is exceedingly dangerous, and while it may provide a small measure of emotional satisfaction in the short-term, in the long term is a scorched earth policy that leaves nothing good behind - i.e., consent MUST matter, this is SO crucial.
Fwiw I did not presume that you were an “adversary” here, either then or now.
Imagine being this person ^

How many times has research funding been a main issue with the electorate in any election: zero times.

If I wanted someone to be murdered id say that or kill them. you can shoot many parts of the body non lethally.
I am just bringing to light that oh so wholesome act is a lot less than it seems
Ya really think me stating rules that need changing on lemmy will do anything?? Get off your god damn high horse
And Luiji killing the CEO did a whole lot more than bitching online. Just proving a point, not implying anything
Hey, Im happy that they got 10 mil, but the wealth inequality here in Canada is insane, the fact a person can give 10 mi is insane to me.
Canada has be rigged over my lifetime to give them everything and leave 25% of the population in food insecurity??
No, this has nothing to do with what you think about me. Im fucking tired of this bullshit.
Private equity literally fuels wealth inequality by making very weathy people have even more buying power than they would individually…
