Oh well at least this isn’t the chaos under the Tories that we were promised…

I wonder what happens to Rachel Reeves in that scenario? Her policies seem equally unpopular.

I’m disappointed that he didn’t at least apologise and chop off part of one of his fungers.

There seems to be a mix of briefings going out suggesting Burnham will make Miliband the chancellor, keep Reeves to appease the bond markets, or tack further right and appoint Mahmood. It will be the first real signal of which version of Burnham we’re getting I guess.

Burnham already indicated he will bring Josh Simons back to Downing St, after he had to resign his Ministerial post for directing MI5 to investigate reporters looking into Starmer’s campaign. So I’m expecting the right-leaning version.

He should’ve gone months ago. It’s been obvious for a while now that, rightly or wrongly, a huge chunk of the electorate despises him.

If you were Starmer, and wanted to keep any chance to hold onto power but also not completely tarnish your legacy, what would you do?

I reckon I’d set out a timetable for departure, with a default of Andy Burnham, say “I won’t start a contest, but if anyone else does, I’ll put myself forward” and then wait to see what Streeting does.

That way, if Streeting (or anyone else) does challenge, you can stay in with a shot while also not being the person who caused all the chaos.

Labour are traditionally the party of the workers, but they’ve moved right to a point where some unions are considering if they should move their support to other parties.

Left to right it tends to be:

      • Greens (Soc Dems)
      • Liberal Democrats (Socially progressive capitalists)
      • Labour (Capitalists who think they still care about people)
      • Conservatives (Capitalists who don’t care about people)
      • Reform UK (Racist chaos capitalists)
      • Restore Britain (Brown shirts)

Edit: Yes, Tories is the the nickname for the Conservatives.

Historically Tories occupied the centre right and Labour centre Left. Of course over the years they both waxed and waned with the extremes of the two but that’s roughly accurate.

These days there’s harder left (Greens) and harder right (Reform) that also have non negligible impact on UK politics. You also have Lib Dems and the SNP that do things 😂.
