Today, Mayor Mamdani announced $15 million to go directly to providers of gender-affirming care for transgender youth—the most concrete action his administration has taken since EITM began reporting on the gaps between his campaign promises and the trans young people who placed their hope in them. The announcement includes three initiatives: a direct care access fund for providers serving trans youth, a call and text line connecting families to care, and research funding. It also comes amid a sustained campaign by the Trump administration to shut down gender-affirming care for youth and some adults nationwide through funding threats and baseless criminal investigations of institutions providing that care—and once operationalized, could provide a significant lifeline for youth who need care in the city.

This is funding for treatment for trans youth, as in, people 18 and under. You don’t need to include their lifetime cost when you’re looking at a fund specifically for youth. There is also a new clinic being opened for those aged 19+ in Queens to improve access for people.

$200/month is overinflated even without insurance IME. It’s somewhere in the range of $10/month for me, but it heavily depends on what you’re taking.

Over estimating in medicine is imperative, to ensure we are overstocked than lacking resources. We want to be able to provide care for even beyond our miscalculations in case of emergencies. One 津波, hurricane, or earthquake away from using up these life-crucial medications.

You understand the amount that was set aside for trans youth care before now was $0, right? I don’t know anyone in NYC who isn’t thrilled by this. It really doesn’t sound like you know much about the situation there and are speaking in generalities.

          Was it?

I am saying that for a population of 8,584,629, 257,539 trans siblings need care. Will 15M$ care for all of them?

Show me any money set aside for trans youth by Eric Adams.

Have you ever tried to access trans care in NYC? Because I have. This is an improvement.

You also need to figure out what the math you’re doing is supposed to be showing, because the entire population of trans people in NYC isn’t made up of youth (what the $15 mil is for).
