My mom lived in Greece for a few years - long before I was born. She once told me a story of that timeframe: she bought a fish, stored it in a clay pot, and put a brick or heavy rock on the lid of the pot so her cats couldn’t get it.
According to her telling, she then left the house. When she got back, the lid and stone were in place but the fish was gone. Apparently, she never found an explanation.
Her cats must have been more clever than mine, who regularly find challenge in walking over the top of a blanket.
