what was there before the missionaries though?

I didnt think of that. Of course, Im more versed (albeit still ignorant to a lot) in what happened to the native peoples of my very north region, but

idk. Ive just, The peoples who were genocided here, what culture remains, it seems they really respected life and the earth for what it gave. I often wonder how the world would have looked without colonization and missionaries. I didnt think of them, the missionaries prior, so, thanks for informing me of that. Its still… another cultures religion, pushing thier religion on someone else. Like their the door knockers of history.

I guess I should listen to this again, this creator has done a few episodes in south and central america, and it has had me in tears.

Christianity reached the South via missionaries (not that kind) wayyy before the Odd Millennia ever started at all, and before colonization or bloodshed

Many missionaries that came to the South before colonization were extremely peaceful and some of them were even martyred

      and “religion” is not “culture”

      completely seperate things

your faith shouldnt depend on where you were born

culture… religion, yeah sure, youre right, but they do go hand in hand.

And I guess your faith shouldnt depend on where one is born, but chrisanity’s goal has always been to “spread” thier religion whether the people want it or not.

For a long time (and arguably still today), what religion you follow is heavily dependent on where you are born.

Which is why I asked what exsisted before the missionaries came to the americas.

Ive come back, because Im still thinking about this. I rewatched that episode about the incas yesterday. I hope you can watch (listen to) it, like, if you are to inform, I am too. There are two parts, but to inform, please consider listening to this historical documantary on what happened to the Incas, and thier religions.

is it why the history of before the missionaries and colonizers is so cloudy?

because the colonizers did their best to erase it? And seem to be successful in such?

In history, they did force it.
