Did you know there’s an entire town in Australia where half the population lives underground?

Coober Pedy is an opal-mining settlement in South Australia’s harsh outback where surface temperatures blaze up to 52°C

About 50% of its 2,500 residents dig themselves cozy “dugouts” carved straight into the hillsides. Underground, the temperature stays a perfect 23–25°C year-round. No air conditioning needed!

I’ve been there. I don’t know if it’s still the case, but when I was there there was a spaceship just sitting in the parking lot of the local bar (which was partially underground). Kinda trippy.

So it was either aliens go to the pub in Coober Pedy or there are indeed some props from Pitch Black just sitting around there.
