My guess is because they saw what happened to Iran who do not have a nuclear weapon. They saw what happened to them when they don’t have a nuclear weapon. And they saw how the US moved defensive assets to protect Israel while their neighbours turned into missile targets.
Ok, I can see that logic from SA. But what is Trump (or rather the adults I the room around him…) thinking here?
Pulling out of the enrichment agreement, attacking Irans nuclear facilities, going to war with Iran - all with at least some pretence about keeping them from getting nukes.
And then he turns around and grants enrichment (and possibly a weapons program?) to Saudi Arabia…!?
