    The issue is that the law changed and the couple missed the news. I agree that ignorance of the law is not a legal excuse, but you try to give people some leniency…

      I’d agree with you had Brexit been two months ago. But we’re talking 10 years here and I really (!) don’t understand at all how you possibly could have missed that news all the years.

      This is not a small law that just happened to change without anyone realizing. This is brexit. And it happened 10 years ago to very big fanfare, and has been a hot topic even to this day.
