It is our Constitutional right talk to you any way we fucking want and it is literally your job to sit there and take it. If you can’t handle it, fucking resign!
A week ago(?), Hunter Biden did an interview with the BBC/Newsnight. They asked some pretty hard questions, including if Hunter’s issues had contributed to his father’s decline. To Hunter’s credit, he answered the question honestly. It was a good interview.
It was quite interesting reading comments on social media from Americans who thought it was rude or unkind because his father’s ill. I mean, if you don’t like tough questions, don’t sit down for a proper interview with proper journalists.
I know people will say journalists are scared of losing access, but there was a similar story about a British journalist from (no longer Murdoch affiliated) Sky news, (seemingly) ambushing El-Sayed and asking him about what Trump’s claim he was full of shit. El-Sayed isn’t (yet) out of touch, so he responded well.
I genuinely wonder if US politics would be in the state it’s in, if the US media took their role more seriously and actually asked politicians tough questions. It’s quite obvious that some US politicians are quite insulated and coddled.
IME contrary to the stereotype, Americans are often far too nice and polite.

Sounds unprofitable, and against the interest of the majority shareholder(s).
The clips described above all went viral. I assume the problem isn’t that it’s unprofitable, but that the media are owned by people who want to push an agenda, and are prepared to make a loss doing it.
It’s a shame there aren’t more streamers and youtubers simply ambushing American politicians, asking them tough questions in an unguarded moment. Eg. “You’re mentioned in the Epstein files x times. Are you a paedophile?” Even if they don’t answer, that kind of thing should elicit an emotional reaction, or make them look bad if they refuse to answer. Enough to make any video of it potentially viral and therefore profitable.
